iPhone 3G’s All Cracked Up?

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Those with exchange hosting often choose to get it because they need to have access to their business or other parts of their lives no matter where they may happen to be. They also tend to choose the wireless sync option as well, giving them the ability to link up to their email and business documents no matter where they are as long as they have a smart phone. One of the newest smart phones, the iPhone 3G, has been highly anticipated on the market, but is it all cracked up?

According to Engadget, many of their readers have iPhone 3G’s that are developing hairline cracks on the case of the phone. These cracks are occurring on both the white and the black phones, and does not seem to be created by any large trauma to the phone. While the cracks are cosmetically annoying, they do not seem to interfere with the workings of the phone, making it possible to still connect to your exchange hosting or to sync up wirelessly no matter where you are. They are, however, extremely annoying, so make sure that you are extra careful with your iPhone 3G, or you’ll find a crack or two that you won’t like.

A Cheap Laptop? Coming Right Up!

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

The majority of people in the business world who have exchange hosting also have laptops, but there are some people who want to have laptops but who are unable to afford it. These are usually high school or college students who are on a fixed income and who can not afford to shell out hundreds of dollars for a laptop. One Indian company, however, is working on creating a laptop that will be extremely easy to afford, seeing as that it only costs $10.

The Indian Institute of Science and the Indian Institute of technology are pairing up in order to try to create a low-cost laptop that will be sold for $10 US dollars per student. There are still more questions about this situation than answers, but if the design and actually possible to achieve, almost everyone in India will be able to afford a laptop, making it easy for students and for those with less money to be able to afford a laptop. If this works, it is likely that other countries will take the same idea and will make inexpensive laptops available for their own countries, giving everyone the opportunity to sign up for exchange hosting and other helpful programs.

How Many Plugs do You Have?

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

Some people do not have the capabilities to use the wireless sync offered by exchange email hosting. They can still use the exchange hosting services, but they are not able to connect wirelessly because they do not have a “smart phone”. This means that they’re tethered to some sort of wire or another. Dealing with all of these wires can get extremely confusing, and even if you happen to have a smart phone or PDA, you will likely have to connect it to something at some point in time. How can you learn how which wire goes to what?

Fortunately one website has recognized the need to learn how to differentiate between different cords and has provided a visual cue for those of us who need to know which cord goes into which hole. On Giz Explains, there is an illustrated guide to “every stupid cable you need” making it quick and easy to be able to understand which plug does what. After you figure out what cable you need to plug in your computer or your PDA so that you can access what you need from exchange email hosting, you can then label them with some masking tape to make it easy to figure out which cable is which the next time around!

Want to Really Get Away?

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

A number of people use exchange hosting so that they can get away from the world without having to worry that they will actually lose touch with their friends or family. If you’re really looking to get away from civilization, you may wan tot check out the homes built by Our Planet Retreats. These homes are not only interesting to look at and unique, but are extremely inexpensive and are an excellent way to escape from the mundane.

These homes are built using fiberglass and other light materials. They have solar panels which heat up the home and give you heated water, and are reached by climbing up a spiral staircase. The locals in each of the tropical areas (including Vanuatu, Phillipines, and New Guinea) are the ones who are building these homes. The amazing thing? An unfurnished floating sphere in the woods costs roughly $2,500. For that small fee you can have a home nesting in the trees in a beautiful forest and, as long as you have exchange hosting and a wireless connection, you can still keep in touch with the rest of the world.

Hard Time Sleeping? Try Shutting Off Your Gadgets!

Monday, July 21st, 2008

We know that you love to have your wireless phone synched up with our exchange hosting options, but is it really a good idea to have the phone lit up next to your bed all night? Apparently not. Scientists have discovered that lights that are left on in the bedroom, including lights from cell phones or iPods, can cause you to have a more difficult time sleeping during the night.

Seriously, count the number of glowing lights in your bedroom. You probably have an alarm clock that lights up, a cell phone, an iPod, and if your computer is in your bedroom you also have a wireless router blinking at you all night! This type of lighting is not a great way to get sleep and needs to be darkened as soon as possible. In order to do this, you can remove the devices from your bedroom, or you can simply put a piece of black electrical tape over whatever is lighting up. Alarm clocks are trickier, however, and you may find that you need to get an alarm clock that is not lit as brightly as the one you currently have.

Protecting your Laptop During Travel

Monday, July 21st, 2008

A number of people who take advantage of the services available from exchange email hosting do so because they find it necessary to travel frequently for their business or for their lifestyle. Traveling with all of these technological gadgets, however, can be tricky, especially if you are traveling across international borders. Customs officials have begun not only checking laptops, but confiscating them for a long length of time. They have the right to scan the computer for sexual material, and can analyze hard drives without a warrant. So what can you do to protect your laptop from being confiscated and searched?

The first thing you should do is to make sure that you back up all of your files. You can also take a section of your hard drive and encrypt it so that your data is properly secured. Also, make sure that you turn off your computer before you try to go through security, as it will help you more than you could ever realize. If you’re going to be passing through international borders, you may want to check out this article about how to custom-proof your laptop, so that all of your exchange email hosting won’t go to waste!

Keeping the Family Connected with a Hosted Exchange Server

Friday, July 18th, 2008

Your wife has got three email accounts, a cell phone, and a separate Blackberry. Your teenage children each have their own cell phones complete with MP3 listening capabilities. Even your parents have got cell phones tucked away in a corner somewhere, yet no one can seem to connect! Why is it that the more technology we have, the harder time we have getting connected to each other? Getting connected with a hosted exchange server is one way to keep everyone in the loop about the family.

A hosted exchange server can give your family members the ability to check their email no matter where they are. That in itself may not be unusual, but then you can add in the ability to list important phone numbers, like the number to grandma’s house or the number to your teenaged son’s best friend’s house, you get something that can be very useful. A hosted exchange server plan also comes with a calendar, so you can mark down, in a spot where everyone can see no matter where they are, the plans for the family, making it easier for everyone to reconnect!

How Far To Go? Ask your Cell Phone!

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

We all know how wonderful inventions such as MapQuest are, and how we’ve begun to be able to get around in this world with GPS machines, and some people can even use their phones to access GPS information in the United States. But what do you do when you’re on vacation and become lost in a foreign country and you don’t have a GPS and you’re nowhere near where you can get access to a computer. Do you have your smart phone with you? Then you’re all set!

AT&T has just announced that it will allow many of its phones to provide global GPS information to not only Canada, but Mexico, Western Europe, and many cities in China as well! This is great news for those who use tools like exchange hosting because they need to travel the world for business. Now you no longer have to worry that you’ll be late for a meeting in China or an interview in Britain, you can simply grab your smart phone, look up the information, access the client’s phone number thanks to your exchange hosting site, and let them know that you’re on your way!

Service Provider Solutions Category

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

MS-CATALOG Exchange My Mail has finally been added to the Microsoft Service Provider Solutions Category on the Microsoft Website.
We have a listing in the Hosted Exchange section.

In order to be listed in the directory, companies must meet certain requirements, which to be honest seem to vary depending on who you talk to.There are minimum requirements that must be met; Microsoft Gold Partner, member of SPLA licensing program, and report a minimum amount of revenue to Microsoft. In addition, you must meet minimum requirements of adding several hundred new mailboxes each month. This is to show that the company is continually adding new customers, and will be a viable partner with Microsoft.

We are extremely excited about finally being listed, as we have been working on this for quite some time now. Our understanding is that this new service provider portal will be replacing the legacy system which had been in place for a few years now. Our dedication to Microsoft Exchange, and it’s related services cannot be compared. As of this writing, Hosted Exchange is the company’s main focus. We don’t get bogged down with web hosting, pop mail servers, CRM, VPS servers etc. All of those items have their place in the industry, and maybe some day we will begin to offer those. But for now, Exchange My Mail continues to focus on Hosted Exchange 2007 and stay dedicated to it core business.

Our customers appreciate this dedication to one specific niche as we have been extremely successful at acquiring new customers, and adding mailboxes. Our dedicated sales and support teams can stay focused on Microsoft Exchange and all of it’s benefits without the need to draw away their attention to other systems. This has given Exchange My Mail a distinct advantage over all of our competition.
