Cell Phone Etiquette is Important

Friday, September 5th, 2008

Having wireless sync and exchange hosting available for your smart phone is a great way to save your employees time and to save you money, but do you know that more often than not, people break the etiquette rules when it comes to cell phones? Once you’ve got exchange hosting set up, you may want to remind your employees about the etiquette of cell phone usage. Some of the top rules that are broken include:

• Talking too loudly – if your employee is in a business meeting and begins to talk too loudly, everyone in the room will be affected. It is important to keep quiet voices when you talk on a cell – remember: cell phones are incredibly sensitive.

• Interrupting conversations – never, ever interrupt a business meeting to take a cell phone message unless it is a very important call coming in. This is highly annoying and rude.

•Texting and driving – exchange hosting allows you to keep in touch whenever, but make sure everyone plays it safe. Never encourage texting or checking messages while driving.

• Use vibrate judiciously – loud and annoying ring tones can irritate everyone. Make vibrate your friend.

Hard Time Sleeping? Try Shutting Off Your Gadgets!

Monday, July 21st, 2008

We know that you love to have your wireless phone synched up with our exchange hosting options, but is it really a good idea to have the phone lit up next to your bed all night? Apparently not. Scientists have discovered that lights that are left on in the bedroom, including lights from cell phones or iPods, can cause you to have a more difficult time sleeping during the night.

Seriously, count the number of glowing lights in your bedroom. You probably have an alarm clock that lights up, a cell phone, an iPod, and if your computer is in your bedroom you also have a wireless router blinking at you all night! This type of lighting is not a great way to get sleep and needs to be darkened as soon as possible. In order to do this, you can remove the devices from your bedroom, or you can simply put a piece of black electrical tape over whatever is lighting up. Alarm clocks are trickier, however, and you may find that you need to get an alarm clock that is not lit as brightly as the one you currently have.

Keeping the Family Connected with a Hosted Exchange Server

Friday, July 18th, 2008

Your wife has got three email accounts, a cell phone, and a separate Blackberry. Your teenage children each have their own cell phones complete with MP3 listening capabilities. Even your parents have got cell phones tucked away in a corner somewhere, yet no one can seem to connect! Why is it that the more technology we have, the harder time we have getting connected to each other? Getting connected with a hosted exchange server is one way to keep everyone in the loop about the family.

A hosted exchange server can give your family members the ability to check their email no matter where they are. That in itself may not be unusual, but then you can add in the ability to list important phone numbers, like the number to grandma’s house or the number to your teenaged son’s best friend’s house, you get something that can be very useful. A hosted exchange server plan also comes with a calendar, so you can mark down, in a spot where everyone can see no matter where they are, the plans for the family, making it easier for everyone to reconnect!
