iPhone 3G’s All Cracked Up?

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Those with exchange hosting often choose to get it because they need to have access to their business or other parts of their lives no matter where they may happen to be. They also tend to choose the wireless sync option as well, giving them the ability to link up to their email and business documents no matter where they are as long as they have a smart phone. One of the newest smart phones, the iPhone 3G, has been highly anticipated on the market, but is it all cracked up?

According to Engadget, many of their readers have iPhone 3G’s that are developing hairline cracks on the case of the phone. These cracks are occurring on both the white and the black phones, and does not seem to be created by any large trauma to the phone. While the cracks are cosmetically annoying, they do not seem to interfere with the workings of the phone, making it possible to still connect to your exchange hosting or to sync up wirelessly no matter where you are. They are, however, extremely annoying, so make sure that you are extra careful with your iPhone 3G, or you’ll find a crack or two that you won’t like.

How Many Plugs do You Have?

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

Some people do not have the capabilities to use the wireless sync offered by exchange email hosting. They can still use the exchange hosting services, but they are not able to connect wirelessly because they do not have a “smart phone”. This means that they’re tethered to some sort of wire or another. Dealing with all of these wires can get extremely confusing, and even if you happen to have a smart phone or PDA, you will likely have to connect it to something at some point in time. How can you learn how which wire goes to what?

Fortunately one website has recognized the need to learn how to differentiate between different cords and has provided a visual cue for those of us who need to know which cord goes into which hole. On Giz Explains, there is an illustrated guide to “every stupid cable you need” making it quick and easy to be able to understand which plug does what. After you figure out what cable you need to plug in your computer or your PDA so that you can access what you need from exchange email hosting, you can then label them with some masking tape to make it easy to figure out which cable is which the next time around!

AT&T Starts BlackBerry Bold Employee Training

Monday, July 14th, 2008

According to several resources, AT&T has already started training their employees on the BlackBerry Bold.  RIM which is usually quite about new products before launch has offered much more insight this time.

With the BOLD prominently displayed on their website for a few weeks now, and the WES announcement, could this be a change in how RIM will launch new deivces in the future?

I am sure that I am not the only one waiting for this new device to hit the stores, so could it happen soon?

We have learned from the past that AT&T doesn’t start their training programs until a few weeks before launch. Seems the rumor is that the launch will be the last week of August or the first week of September.

My 8300 is shot, scratched lens, drool from my 10 month old son trying to eat it, numerous drops from waist high, and yet it still works perfectly. You really just can’t beat a BlackBerry when it comes to durability and the wireless synchronization it provides, especially when connected to our Hosted Microsoft Exchange and Hosted BlackBerry Enterprise Servers.

As you can see i’m super excited for this new device ( which I already have on order with RIM ).
SHIP IT ALREADY! :- )

Turn a Business Card into an iPhone Stand

Friday, July 11th, 2008

One thing you’ll soon discover is that there’s no comfortable way to watch videos, as the iPhone doesn’t come with a stand. You’ll either have to hold it… or try to prop it up at a decent viewing angle.

OR - Fish a business card out of your wallet. Instructables shows you how to turn an ordinary business card into a damn good iPhone stand (it works quite nicely with the iPod touch, too).

Once you get the iPhone standing properly, make sure you checkout the new ActiveSync features, and wirelessly sync it with your Hosted Exchange 2007 Mailbox.

Hosted Exchange Server – A Middle Ground

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

For some company employees, computers are considered to be “evil”. They are scary pieces of equipment that are more trouble than they are worth. Others, however, enjoy the way that a computer can help them to organize their business efficiently and quickly. The trick, when you own a small business, is to find a middle ground – a product and system that is easy for those who are unfamiliar with computers to use, yet has enough goodies on it to give those who enjoy technology some new toys to play with.

A hosted exchange server may be the answer that you are looking for. When you go through a hosted exchange server, you are using a program that is simple and easy. It requires no commands and can be worked easily with a few clicks of the mouse. But a hosted exchange server also offers plenty for the technologically advanced, giving them the ability to play with the many different options that are available, such as wireless synch and SharePoint. A hosted exchange server is a perfect middle ground for those companies where the technological skill level ranges from none to expert.
